I am not sure how better to start this post off then by saying WHAT A WEEKEND!
Despite the lack of training, the weather and fear of failing, I successfully completed my first half marathon and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Being a race newbie there were so many things that surprised me about running a race like this. I mean when else would you see a swarm of people in their workout gear waiting for a metro in Washington D.C. at 6am on a Saturday morning?
But honestly from the excitement and sense of community at the beginning and end of the race and the amount of people that came out on their front porches to drink their coffee and to cheer us on was so surprising to me.
The feeling of empowerment and sense of achievement you feel as you cross over the finish line is an overwhelming feeling that only that situation could give you.
It truly proved the saying, you can do anything you put your mind to if you just try!
After the half, I headed home and got dolled up to celebrate my running buddies birthday at her birthday bash that night! It was quite the day!
Checked in and ready to race!
You have to dress for success right?? Cute Irish girl shirt for good luck!
Quick photo before the race.. all smiles but a bit chilly.
Who knew KISS likes to run! We had to get a photo with them!
My first race in exactly 2 hours! Very happy with my time!
Celebrating my running buddy and birthday girl!
All laughs and smiles with my ladies!
My partner in crime
Had to take a snap shot of these babies! How fierce are those? LOVE!
The promise that spring is coming… TULIPS!
I hope you all had a great weekend and have an even better week!
best.night.ever.
