Today, I sat down to write my post, with the intent of writing about my great cardio workout circuit this morning and the adorable red pants and blue checkered button up I am wearing today, but that doesn’t seem to be what is on my mind.
For the past couple of months, we have been bombarded by political conventions, campaign ads, rally’s, debates and non-stop news coverage. Messages urging us to vote yes on this bill and no on that one. Informing us that Romney will do this and Obama won’t do that, and so on. As being someone that hasn’t had a great interest in politics, this seems a bit immature and overdone.
My perspective is Simple:
I don’t want to vote for a candidate that only sees RED or only sees BLUE. I want to vote for a candidate that has the compassion and understanding to stand for both colors. A candidate, that doesn’t have to stoop to the level of bashing their opponent to win but wins based of their integrity and the American people’s confidence and trust in them.
This, of course, is my own personal perspective and I understand that it is easier to sit back and state this, without having the experience of running myself. However, it is a quality that I would love to see in future candidates. To have a leader that unites our entire country and reminds us to embrace our differences but to remember that we are all after the same goal.
A Simple Request :
Lead By Example
We can’t request our future candidates to be tolerable and understanding of both sides, if we aren’t ourselves. Tomorrow whether your candidate wins or loses, be the bigger person that can accept and embrace the winner, no matter their side. This is also, easier said than done but regardless, can be done.
Now that I have that off my chest, I still had to show you my cute outfit for the day, very patriotic, dontcha think?
Disclaimer: I in no way wanted to press my beliefs or ideals on anyone, just wanted to simply share my perspective.
Hope you all have a great Tuesday! xox
